The candidates that we support demonstrate a firm commitment to:
Reimagining our education system by developing a whole-child approach that provides positive reinforcement at every stage of a young person’s life
Our city is facing an unprecedented crisis that requires laser focus on the reduction of violent crime, especially gun violence. This involves building greater trust through good police work at the community level, true police reform through diversity and transparency, tracking crime and analyzing data, and a commitment to justice that is fair and safe.
The COVID pandemic has magnified the fact that our public health system is inadequate, especially for communities of color. Racial health gaps in healthcare coverage and access must be closed, New Yorkers must be provided with greater access to preventative care, and mental health and addiction services must be more easily attained by those with the greatest need.
To address the housing crisis in NYC, we must rapidly build new affordable housing while also protecting the existing apartments everywhere. This includes empowering community development corporations and faith-based institutions with the tools they need to provide housing, working to improve NYCHA, and creating more live/work communities.
Another area hard hit by the COVID pandemic, the economic recovery of our city necessitates attracting start-up and new investments, creating new jobs through the buildout of a new green infrastructure, and uplifting and sustaining our small business community by focusing on programs and services that reduce inequality, particularly in Black and Brown-owned small businesses.
